CM Comments:
This running of the QSO Party certainly saw a fantastic showing from Canada with a huge score from island rover Igor, VA3YDX.  Way to go!  The group at W7VMI kept the west coast alive with a fine showing from Washington.  Rick, AA1KS is always loud from the east coast and is often on outside of the QSO Party giving Moose Island QSOs to those in need.  Ralph, NM5RC, gets kudos for being able to get 7 islands on the air from the desert southwest.  Great planning, OM!
With almost 500 islands, it seems remarkable that only two operators in  Florida found a chance make some contacts.  Many of Gulf and Atlantic islands are reachable by auto, or there are resident operators.  Let’s  hope to hear more out of Florida in 2007.
Also, only three non-island logs?  All you landlubbers send them in for 2007.
Several commented on the rough band conditions.  There were several log entries where the call was copied, but not an exchange due to poor signals.  Solar conditions should start looking up soon, so maybe we can see a 100,000 point log before long.
One reason the QSO Party was moved to the weekend before CQWW Phone was to give some of the big gun contest stations a chance to check their station’s operation by working less powerful signals from the rovers and island portable stations.  Not a lot of the normal contest calls showed up in the logs, so we encourage them to get active for the next QSO Party and find your problems a week before CQWW starts.
The log checking took a while due to a QTH move and a computer deciding to not compute anymore.
The only serious thing I noted was a few QSO’s outside of the FCC-approved bands for contesting.
Best of luck in the 2007 W/VE Islands QSO Party.  Plaques are being prepared!
