Island's qualification Sept. 5 2009 from 1400UTC to 2000UTC, as
TX061L. Videographer was Daryl KC5SLQ. Island was qualified in about an hour and 5 minutes. We made a little over 100 contacts, with several DX including Moscow Russia, Netherlands, Canada, and so on. The video with us putting the vertical up, it is a wire vertical we put up with lashed bamboo that was growing on the island. Most of the contacts were made with 100 watts on a Kenwood TS-570D, tractor battery for power, and OCF dipole horizontal in trees at around 20 ft. Operators were Dave KB5YLG, Jeff KE5TQM, Bob KE5AXC, Dave WB5IDM, K5NCS, Bob AD5VJ, Daryl KC5SLQ, John KF5BHG and Micah KF5BKQ. |
